Biotechnology
The Biotechnology group of websites is a recent addition to the Business section of Christchurch City Libraries’ Internet Gateway. Timely also, as development of the biotechnology industry in New Zealand has been identified as a priority.
Biotechnology is a key contributor to future economic growth and international competitiveness — exports were worth $250 million in 2003. What is biotechnology? What does it encompass? Who is involved? How is it administered?
Have a look at this group of websites that include:
- Biotechnology from Statistics New Zealand which gives brief statistical and survey information
- Biotechnology from the Ministry of Research Science & Technology — a comprehensive, informative resource
- Biotechnology and Agritech from New Zealand Trade & Enterprise which gives an overview in fields such as biopharmaceuticals and biomanufacturing
- Biotechnology Australia is responsible for managing the National Biotechnology Strategic policy
- HortNet is an information centre for New Zealand plant-based industries. It includes updates, publications, facts and useful links
- Nutraceuticals Cluster of Canterbury and Nelson produces natural extracts that are used in health-promoting and disease-preventing products.
