Cash and how not to spend it

Your baby on a budgetMoney, and how we get it, spend it and make the most of it is something that is a persistent part of our daily lives. Your library has lots of information and practical monetary advice whatever your age or stage.

The Cabaret musical made the saying ‘Money makes the world go round’ famous, but you are in charge of your cash and just how fast the world turns. So before you fall flat on your monetary axis, have a look at our cash-saving tips and then check out further resources below.

Five money saving tips: From What Not to Spend (p 40).

  1. What not to spendCut down on discretionary spending. Could you eat at home more often, or ration your fashion spending?
  2. Look for savings on fixed expenses - telephone, electricity etc.
  3. Increase your earnings. Ask for a raise, move to a higher paid job, or take on a second job.
  4. Sell items you no longer need.
  5. Consider doing without a car, or cutting back to one.
