- Mark Spragg's 2004 novel comes out at about the same time as the film adaptation. The film was actually in production when the novel was announced on a publisher's list. It's the story of a young woman fleeing an abusive partner with her small daughter in tow. She goes home to the Wyoming ranch of the father she has been estranged from for some time. The woman is played by Jennifer Lopez, the father by Robert Redford and other cast members include Morgan Freeman and Camryn Mannheim. The director is Lasse Hallstrom who has previously handled the adaptations of The cider house rules and The shipping news.
