If You Like… Jodi Picoult

Never heard of her? Or even worse heard of her, read all her novels and now stuck for something to read? Jodi Picoult stories centre on the lives of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Her writing style is straightforward and warm reflecting the type of qualities her New England based characters exhibit.

• For a similar flavour try Christopher Bohjalian - another New England author who tackles big issues in small towns.
• Jacquelyn Mitchard - an Oprah Winfrey selected author also writes pacey, character driven novels.
• Luanne Rice -particularly her earlier titles are similar in scope to Jodi’s.
• Ann Hood also writes about small town female characters and is also a good match for fans of Anita Shreve.
• Sue Miller although writing in a more obviously literary vein, might also interest the avid Picoult reader.
• Anne Tyler, Elizabeth Berg and Anita Shreve might also provide some Picoult-esque literary magic.
