This was the home of the Deans family until 1947. Jane Deans (1823-1911) built the original part of the house in 1856 and in 1874 she added a two-storey section with higher roofs and bay windows. This photograph shows the house after a third stage was added in 1900 by her son, John Deans (1853-1902)
