The Nobel Prizes are announced over a number of days the week beginning Monday 6th October 2008 at the Nobel Forum, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, peace and since 1968, economics.
