About Janet Frame

Janet Frame, New Zealand's most distinguished writer, died of leukemia January 29, 2004, at a hospital in Dunedin, New Zealand. She was 79.

In 2003, along with Michael King and Hone Tuwhare, she was honoured as one of the "giant kauri" of New Zealand literature in the inaugural Prime Minister's Awards for Literary Achievement.
