Computer Settings

How to go about changing some of the settings on our public computers.

Text Size

Increase the viewing size to make it easier to read.

ie 6 iconIn Internet Explorer

To make text on most web sites larger follow these steps:

  1. In Internet Explorer go to the View menu
  2. Choose Text Size > Larger or Largest

Notes:

  • This will increase the text size in most well-designed web sites. Unfortunately some web sites are designed in such a way that you cannot re-size the text in Internet Explorer.
  • Some websites may also their own buttons for re-sizing text.
  • Resizing the text in Internet Explorer will not effect words that are set in images.
  • Resizing the text will effect how the page prints - use print preview to check.

In MS Office applications

To view your text larger without effecting its real or printable size follow these steps:

  1. Go to the View menu
  2. Select Zoom > 200% or set your zoom size to your preference

Language

To change the language setting follow these steps.
Note: you need to have the cursor in a location you can type in before you can set the language settings.

  1. Click on EN, this is located near the bottom right of the screen on the task bar.

  3. Click on the new language code in the same location e.g. JP. (Japanese)
  4. Click on show the language bar. The language bar will then display at the top of the screen.
  5. On the language bar click on input mode and select the input mode you want.
  6. Start typing your document or message.
