A. E. (Ted) Armstrong is pictured with his Riley Nine Kestrel car outside the Edmonds Band Rotunda. He was born in Dunedin and came to Christchurch at an early age and while still at school began working in the family drapery business which was once among the largest of its kind in New Zealand.
