The old Chester Street fire brigade and some of the men who manned it
[ca. 1883]
Horses pulled the engine and steam took care of the pumping. The fire engine carried hoses and its own water supply in a tank on the back. The vehicle ran on solid rubber wheels. Sixth from the left is Arthur James Watts (1863-1956)
